HI,
I’m Christian Watt, an Emmy, RTS, PGA and Mind Media award-winning, Grierson, Broadcast, NTA, Bulldog and British Comedy Award nominated director of comedy and factual television.

My work in comedy began on the Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington hit travelogue An Idiot Abroad. Since then I’ve series directed Netflix’s Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father, directed pilots with the likes of Tom Davis, Sophie Willan and Lee Kern and worked with Charlie Brooker on a number of projects – most recently series directing the BBC/Netflix global mockumentary Cunk On Earth, which was nominated for the RTS Best Scripted Comedy Award and earned the super talented Diane Morgan, aka Philomena Cunk, a BAFTA nomination.

My factual work includes CNN’s Stanley Tucci: Searching For Italy, winner of the 2024 Hosted Nonfiction Emmy; series directing the stars of England’s 1990s football team for ITV’s Harry’s Heroes: Euro Having A Laugh; series directing Googlebox’s Moffatt family for C4’s The British Tribe Next Door and Barry Humphries’ A Granny’s Guide To The Modern World; plus directing the likes of Stephen Fry, Philippa Perry, Frankie Boyle, Bradley Walsh, Vinnie Jones and Bear Grylls for a range of shows and single documentaries.

I also work on commercial projects and have recently directed a series of work for comms lab The Utopia Bureau.
