CHRISTIAN WATT

HI,
I’m Christian Watt, an Emmy, RTS, PGA and Mind Media award-winning, Grierson, Broadcast, NTA, Bulldog and British Comedy Award nominated series director of premium factual and comedy television.
Over a twenty five-year career working across observational, retrospective and talent-led documentaries plus scripted comedy I've directed some of the biggest names in TV – Stanley Tucci in Searching For Italy; Jack Whitehall in Travels With My Father; Diane Morgan in Charlie Brooker’s Cunk On Earth; Harry Redknapp plus 90s football legends such as Vinnie Jones in Harry’s Heroes, Googlebox's Moffatt family in The British Tribe Next Door; Bradley Walsh in Comedy Legends; Stephen Fry in 21st Century Firsts; Bear Grylls in Celebrity Island, Karl Pilkington in An Idiot Abroad and a whole cast of Hollywood A-listers in upcoming Disney+ series Meet The Planets.
For me directing is a passion. Figuring out how to capture a scene in the most stunningly cinematic way possible, how to unlock the emotion, tell the story and get the most intimate, authentic and revealing performances really excites me. Hugely practised directing large multi-camera crews on major projects I’m also an exceptional self-shooter with vast experience capturing actuality on prime lenses & lighting and shooting interviews myself.
When not directing, I also love working as a series edit producer and am regularly called on to use my storytelling and scripting skills to help craft high-profile streamer shows like Nat Geo/Disney+’s natural history adventure extravaganza Welcome To Earth With Will Smith, food/ancestry format No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski, Netflix’s gritty crime ob doc Dope and NBC E!’s travelogue Trippin'.
